A PLANNING inspector has upheld a decision to refuse permission for a nine-hole golf course.
South Kesteven District Council refused the application to transform agricultural land to the west of Witham-on-the-Hill into the golf course in June.
Councillors refused it because of concerns about the amount of traffic going into the village.
It also received letters of objection to the plans.
Robert and Siobhan Hazelwood, who submitted the plans, appealed to the Planning Inspectorate, who dismissed the appeal.
Inspector Jeremy Eagles said there was a chance golf balls could hit people using the grounds at Witham Hall school and that pigeon shooters using the woods at the weekend could shoot golfers nearby.
He said there was no economic benefit to putting a golf course there.
He also said there was no evidence the applicant had looked at alternative sites for the golf course and that traffic was an issue.
He also took into account villagers objections.
